The original idea came from the ignorance I felt being a disabled man in the queer community. For example, a lot of the friends I had when I could walk began to drop away and I felt shunned by any potential date. The story then (somehow) became about disability and identity. I was very happy with the story, but it didn’t actually contain much gay content. I came out to myself when I was fourteen, to my family when I was fifteen and diagnosed with Friedreich’s Ataxia (FA) when I was sixteen. I guess all the gay stuff and disability stuff sorta blurred through an already hazy adolescence. So it’s no wonder I see those issues as overlapping facets of me. So my story is a combination of travelling through disabled life and being gay. It’s the story of my personal journey to Ad’m.
