tell your story - change the world!

I changed my name to better reflect my identity... previously unknown, before that undecided... now 'miscellaneous'... a 'cracked pot'

Hi Ad'm - the upload worked AND it looks great... now you have an excuse to share all over again - facebook, twitter, youtube, the world is your oyster ; ) AND why don't you add a blog post telling us all how it feels to look back at it all after nearly two years?

Stealth Crip – by Ad’m

As a disabled man, I have witnessed a lot of ignorance in the queer community. The original idea came from a desire to explore this. For example, as my ‘illness’ became more visible, a lot of the friends I had when I could walk began to drop away. I felt shunned by potential dates. The story then (somehow) became about disability and identity. I was very happy with the story, but it didn’t actually contain much gay content. I came out to myself when I was fourteen and to my family when I was fifteen. When I was sixteen I was diagnosed with Friedreich’s Ataxia (FA). I guess all the gay stuff and disability stuff sorta blurred through an already hazy adolescence. So it’s no wonder I see those issues as overlapping facets of me. So my story is a combination of travelling through disabled life and being gay. It’s the story of my personal journey to Ad’m.

By Melina Michelle Magdalena: I agree with you Ad'm - we can all identify the personal limitations and opportunities that life surrounds us with and it's from the outside that restrictions are perceived and imposed. Your line about society disabling you and your wheelchair enabling you is witty and true.

By Fanny Jacobsen: Hi Ad'm ... really enjoyed this ... thanks for being honest and clear

To which Ad'm responded: Great to hear your feedback Melina.
Thank you Fanny. Loved your story also. Let's start an 'honesty army'?
