We have several teachers on this site who have a range of strategies around being 'out' or dealing with homophobia in schools. You should do a blog post to get a debate rolling! For instance when you say 'not allowed' - is that an explicit DECS thing or particular to your school... or something less formal, but equally silencing?

I'm a teacher, and in DECS schools I'm not allowed to mention the fact that I am in a same sex relationship - even though my collegues make public their relationships, wedding plans, families,... dates, etc. I cannot display family photos on my wall as they do. I have to lie when students ask me questions. If I can't even do that, how could she feel safe to talk about her mums?

I saw you guys there on the day, have some photos if you would like them :)
