So this is out in the 'father's day' issue of Blaze - Adelaide queer street mag. I am a bit ambivalent about it myself - first they wanted a 'dad and baby' cover story. When i said i didnt have a baby; that images of our children (as foster children) cant appear in media; and that i didnt know anyone with a baby (though i have since realised i do!!), they were about ready to drop the story. I then suggested they use a stock image for the cover and then do an interview with one of the dads i… Continue

The original idea came from the ignorance I felt being a disabled man in the queer community. For example, a lot of the friends I had when I could walk began to drop away and I felt shunned by any potential date. The story then (somehow) became about disability and identity. I was very happy with the story, but it didn’t actually contain much gay content. Just wanted to let everyone know that if you don't have a face pic on your profile, chances are I won't regognise you. I'm not saying "Change your pic now!" Because if I did, you'd have a right to tell me to fuck off. :-P Just saying, if you think I snobbed you, that'd be why.

As parents lots has changed in our relationship to one another, partly due to the passage of time, partly due to having a third child, and perhaps largely due to how other people perceive us. And i guess that is sadly the stuff that stays the same - we are as unintelligible to others now as we were 2 years ago, perhaps even more so. Other gay men struggle to… Continue

WHO AM I? WHY AM I HERE?
Hi all! Welcome!
It's just possible that I'm as nervous here as I would be if I were standing at the front of a tutorial room doing the intro session... doesn't feel that different (I've just made a long list of things I must remember to say!!).
However, because we're working in a written medium, I'm going to endeavour to keep it short, simple and sweet!
This is session one of ten that will take place over the… Continue

This is where it all started... the story of wanting another baby; plucking up the courage to tell my conservative bio-family; the quest to find a donor; seemingly endless insemination attempts (embarrassingly, documenting the whole thing on video!!)... and falling in love with my beautiful baby boy... Have a read at: www.familyvalues.katalyst.com.au
